Thursday, drove up to Yosemite and car-camped at Upper Pines Campground. The next day, we woke up at 3am and got to the trail-head for Half Dome at approximately 4:30am. Returned to the campground at approximately 1:30pm. Total of 9 hours for 18 miles and 4,800 ft. elevation gain, including breaks and resting at the top of Half Dome (we took the JMT trail back down from Nevada Falls and reconnected with the Mist trail). Saturday, packed up and returned home.
Top of Half Dome.
Top of Half Dome.
View of Nevada Falls and Liberty Cap from the JMT trail on our way back down.
Not a hike I would repeat due to the dangers of the cables. I can definitely see how people can slip to their death.
