Sunday, January 1, 2012 - Grand Canyon

Grand Canyon in 48 hours and 990 miles. Usually I only have 1 1/2 day weekends, but because of the New Years, I had a 2 1/2 day weekend. Decided I had to make the most out of it and made an impromptu trip out to the Grand Canyon.

Great start to a new year. Grateful. Living.

5 am. Cold morning. Well worth it for the sunrise.

Start of the sunrise.

Didn't think there would be this many people on New Year's Day at the Grand Canyon watching the sunrise.

 Sunrise. Liking the colors.

 Sunrise.

 Sunrise. Morning haze.

Sunrise. Sunlight finally starting to light up the top layers of the canyon.

 Sunrise.

 Sunrise.

 Sunrise.

Lots of ice and snow on the grounds.

 Liked how the trees looked.

An amazing place. Colorado river running through the canyon. Side note: The Colorado River has not reached the sea since 1998.

The sun setting.

Sunday, December 25, 2011 - Christmas Day

A low-key Christmas to end a great year.

Caught this guy in the backyard in the morning. He took the fruit from the tree, went up the wall, peeled it, and ate it.

Annual prime rib roast about to go in the oven.

 The vegetables, cut and cleaned.

Fresh parsley and thyme to cook with.
