Thursday, November 28, 2013 - Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving! Just a little glimpse into my Thanksgiving.

Our Thanksgiving's usually consist of 6-8 families mixed in with a few friends getting together for dinner. Around 30+ people. Potluck-style. My mom will usually cook the main courses. Preparation and cooking take all day.

 Getting the turkey ready.

The smoker to cook the salmon.

Home-made apple pie.

Apple pie baking in the oven outside.

Finished apple pie.

Mushrooms for the gravy, cleaned and cut.

Blanching the brussel sprouts.

Prime rib roast in the oven.

 Our backyard: smoker, grill, oven.

Salad mixed with the salmon from the smoker.

Fresh crab.

The vegetables: brussel sprouts, cream of corn, green beans, chinese broccoli.
Prime rib roast and honey-baked ham in the background.

The finished honey-baked ham.

The finished chocolate cake.

Mi madre y mi hermano working hard in the kitchen.

Next, we pack everything up and finish the rest at my uncle's house where everyone will be gathering for the dinner.

Setting up the tables. Takes 3 tables to hold all the food.

The table cleared for dessert.

Family. Happy Thanksgiving.

Tuesday, November 5, 2013 - Eastside Market Italian Deli

Had lunch at Eastside Market Italian Deli. Established in 1929. Located in Los Angeles, around the corner from Chinatown. Lunch time, the spot is filled with city workers, police and fire department employees. Where the fire department can park in the red curb zone so they can eat here. Seat yourself. Flat screens on the walls so you can catch up on news or sports. Parking on the street.

The front entrance of Eastside Market.

Waiting in line to order food.

 The seating area.

#6 Pastrami and sauce and cheese. Also tried the #7 roast beef, pastrami, and cheese.

After eating Eastside Market, the Hat, the Original Tops, and Langer's, Langer's is my favorite.
