Canada - Day 1 (Saturday, July 23, 2011) and Day 2 (Sunday, July 24, 2011)

Continuation of Day 1 (Saturday, July 23, 2011)

Bummed, I somehow lost all the pictures I took from the first day except for those from the last hour of the day.

Arrived in Vancouver. Picked up our rental car, a Dodge van.

Ate wonton noodles in Chinatown.

Attended cousin's wedding reception on top of Grouse mountain. Took the gondola up. Beautiful view of Vancouver. Congratulations Darcy and Agatha!

Went to the Richmond Night Market, an outdoor event that's held once a year.

The "Tornado Potato", "Hurricane Potato", or "Potato Twist", it had multiple names, is the new cool thing. All the kids were eating it.

Can't go wrong with grilled squid.

Day 2 (Sunday, July 24th)

A bit of an uneventful day.

Drove to Richmond from North Vancouver to McNoodle House for some delicious wonton noodles for lunch.

 Had to eat two bowls.

Started our drive towards Banff, our main destination of the trip. Tried to take a more scenic route through Crowsnest Hwy, but there wasn't much to see.

Pit stop at Manning Provincial Park - Lightening Lake

A lot of the trees are actually dead or dying due to an infestation of mountain pine beetles blamed on climate change.

 Lightening Lake

Staying the night in Princeton.
