Nepal - Day 4 (Tuesday, April 1, 2014)

Tuesday, April 1, 2014 - Phakding to Namche Bazaar

Phakding (8,560 ft.) to Namche Bazaar (11,285 ft.) - 5.6 miles (gain 2,725 ft.)

Gradual gain of about 920 ft. for the first 4.2 miles, then a quick gain of about 2,000 ft. in the final 1.4 miles.

Early morning view of the mountains as we begin our hike for the day.

This was quite common on the trip to stop and move off the trail to allow the pack animals to pass.

Our dzo with our bags went ahead of us so that they could set up camp by the time we arrived.

At the bottom of the valley before we start our sharp ascent up. We are heading up the 2nd bridge you see in the distance.

Made it to Namche Bazaar. The view from inside the tent. Our campsite is behind one of the lodges/tea houses. This was the roughest day for me on the entire trek. Was feeling the altitude, just nauseous and fatigued. Took a long nap after we arrived and felt much better from then on.

View of Namche Bazaar from our campsite in the late afternoon after my nap. Clouds are beginning to roll in, covering the peaks of the mountains.

Explored the streets of Namche Bazaar a little bit before dinner. Namche Bazaar is the largest Sherpa village and is a major establishment due to the abundant source of fresh water and its lively bazaar on Saturdays.
